Phil Taylor - Senior & Managing Director

Phil is the practice's senior and managing director with some 35 years' wide ranging experience in the profession. In addition to a varied portfolio of clients, Phil heads the practice's specialist medical practitioner team and is a member of the Institute's Healthcare Group and Taxation Faculty.

Phil is married with two grown-up daughters and in his spare time can be seen indulging his life long passion for flying, he has held a pilot's licence for many years.

When not aviating Phil enjoys gardening and playing tennis and golf.

Mark Harris

Mark joined the firm in 1997 from a Birmingham firm and became a partner in 1998. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants having qualified in 1989.

Mark is a general practice partner who advises clients ranging from partnerships to owner managed businesses. In addition he is rountinely involved in raising finance for clients and dealing with Business acquisitions and disposals.

Mark believes that the firm offers a professional high quality service but at the same time offers a personable friendly approach. He enjoys assisting growing businesses with a whole range of issues that affect all companies.

Mark is married with 2 children. A golf fan who will play whenever the opportunity arises.

John Davis

John gained a degree in Business Studies before he trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a five partner Birmingham practice. He then gained valuable post qualification experience with the Birmingham office of a national practice before deciding to specialise in the SME market. This lead to a move to Bakers in 1986 where he was appointed a partner two years later.

John has over 25 years experience advising small and medium sized businesses, including professional practices and adopts a hands on approach to his clients. He is also a Fellow of the ICAEW and is a member of their Solicitors Special Interest Group.

John is married with four children and is honorary treasurer for his local church and tennis club, where he is also an active playing, though not necessarily winning member.

Associate Directors

Malcolm Dickson

After obtaining a degree in Accountancy, Malcolm trained with a local Droitwich practice and qualified whilst working for a four partner practice in Birmingham.

Having joined Bakers in 1984 and becoming a partner in 1986, Malcolm has continued to provide professional advice to SME businesses and develop a strong relationship with his clients by providing a one-stop approach for accountancy services.

Malcolm has a grown up daughter and plays golf as often as possible and takes an interest in most sports.

Mike Ballinger

Mike joined the practice when we integrated the established practice of Haslams in 2008. Mike has over 30 years of experience in the profession offering an all round service to personal and SME clients.

Karen Monaghan

Karen was also previously a partner in Haslams and joined us in 2008 on our integration. She has over 10 experience in providing a personalised service to her SME client base. She has 2 children and enjoys cycling and going to concerts in the little spare time she has.
